John A. Ross

John A. Ross, 96, of La Junta, passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Nursing Care Center. At his request cremation has taken place and there will be a private family service held.
John was born on December 2, 1913 in La Jara, Colorado to Major & Hattie Ross. John married Marjorie Jones on August 19, 1944, in Taos, New Mexico; she preceded him in death on December 8, 1986.
John worked as a ranch hand until the age of 59, and then he worked at a lumber mill in New Mexico. Then he became the janitor at the La Junta Middle School until he retired in 1984 at the age of 70.
He is survived by his son, Franklin S. (Carol) Garner of Pueblo West; grandchildren, Jim (Michelle) Garner of La Junta; Alicia (Russell) Rohlfing of Parker; William Garner of Pueblo West; Jeanette Garner of Arizona; one great-grandson, Luke Garner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Major & Hattie Ross; wife, Marjorie Ross; son, James and his wife Janet Garner; daughter, Nancy Snelson; brother & sister, Carter Ross & Mary Addington.
Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
