Larry “Chip” Gutierrez, 35, of La Junta, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2009, at the Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 9, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel. Recitation of the Rosary will be Wednesday, June 10th at 9:30 a.m. and Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish with Father Alphonsus Ihuoma officiating.
Chip was born to Abe & Josie (Palacio) Gutierrez on September 21, 1973 in La Junta, Colorado. He married Deanna Gebbie on May 15, 1998 in La Junta, Colorado.
He worked at the Crowley County Prison, Bent County Prison, Bender Oil, Wal-Mart, and the La Junta Tribune Democrat. He enjoyed coaching and playing softball and watching his kids play as well.
He is survived by his wife, Deanna of the La Junta home; parents, Abe & Josie Gutierrez of La Junta; children, Serena, Tristin, and Tori of the family home; sisters, Debbie (Brad) Burt of Phoenix, AZ; Tina (Troy) Raymond of Phoenix, AZ; Stephanie Trujillo of Denver; grandmother, Delores Bustamante of Manzanola; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles & friends also survive.
Chip was preceded in death by his step-son, Robert Gebbie; grandparents, Nellie & Salvador Palacio; grandfather, Desiderio Bustamante.
