Mamie Lorene “Rene” Blundell Ede, 88 passed away on December 8, 2018 in Springfield, Colorado. She was born on January 20, 1930, in Lamar, Colorado, she was second of seven children born to James Marion Blundell and Mamie Laura Smart. She was a “second mom” to several of her siblings.
She married Hank Ede on August 11, 1947, in Raton, NM. They had two children, Vicky Ede Neskorik and Terry Ede.
After the death of her husband, she provided in-home nursing for a number of people throughout Texas, Oklahoma and Colorado. She “adopted” many of those families as her own and loved them all and with a special love for any babies.
Rene is survived by her children, Vicky and Terry, and grandchildren, Shelley Carroll, Zane Ede, Brandon Ede, and Justin Ede, and great-grandchildren, David Whatley, Shayna and Zane Ede II, Anfurney; (and great, great-grandaughter, Ariella), Albert, Brianna, and Colton; her brother, Larry (Patsy) and her brother, Rex and wife Connie. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Hank; brothers, Carl James, Vernon, Alvin, and sister, Loretta Bohlander. She was “Aunt Rene” to many nieces and nephews and even some great nieces and nephews. She had an extensive knowledge of family history.
A graveside service will be held on January 21, 2019 2:00 p.m. at the Bent County-Las Animas Cemetery with Pastor Adam Markley of the First Baptist Church of Las Animas.
