Agustin F. Franco

Agustin Franco, 82, passed away June 8, 2017 at his La Junta home. He was born in Boone, CO on August 28, 1934 to Francisco & Enriqueta (Cardiel) Franco.

He worked at Ft Lyon Veterans Administration and retired after 40 years. He was also a veteran and served in the U.S. Army. Everyone knew him as "FRANCO". He was remembered by most for his talkative nature and the man who walked all over La Junta. He was also an avid Denver Bronco fan and loved traveling with his wife. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with all his family.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria of the La Junta home; son, Rick (Robyn) Franco and their children, Derrick Franco, Lauryn (Anthony) Staehle, and Austin Franco; daughter, Debbie (Zeke) Vigil and their children, Zeke (Danielle Ramirez) Vigil, Jr. & Vanessa (Brock) Darnell; great-grandkids, Alex and Gracie Mae Vigil & Bristol and Alyssa Darnell; nieces, Theodora Vargas and Maxine (Roger) Lynn. Agustin was preceded in death by his parents Francisco and Enriqueta Franco and numerous brothers and sisters.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., both services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish with Father Henry Wertin officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 12, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and also on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery in La Junta with military honors by the Rocky Ford Rifle Team, American Legion Post #8.
