Albert David Russell

January 11, 1930 — November 19, 2014

Albert David “Dave” Russell went to be with his Lord & Savior, peacefully, at his La Junta home November 19, 2014. He was 84.

Dave was born January 11, 1930 to Albert Edwin Russell & Sophia (Laverty) Russell in La Junta, CO. He grew up with 3 siblings and has lived his entire life in the La Junta area.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean war.

September 4, 1964 he married “the woman who saved my life”, Patricia Ann “Patty” Woodring Russell in Cheraw, CO. They were soon blessed with 3 daughters and 1 son.

Dave was a long time cattle rancher. One of his favorite places to be was in a saddle on the back of a horse caring for his cattle & ranch with his family by his side. He always felt blessed that God helped him make a living doing what he loved.

He always made sure his family was in Church on Sunday morning. He was a regular attendee of the La Junta Nazarene Church until he was no longer able because of his health.

Dave especially enjoyed spending time with his family and loved being a part of his grandkids many activities.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jerry Russell, sister-in-law Shirley Russell, brother-in-law Cal Cranson, nephew Kenny Cranson, niece Susan Russell, father-in-law & mother-in-law Ernie & Velma Woodring.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patty, daughters Lori (Kent) Schleich of Albuquerque, NM, Lisa (Troy) Martin, Lindi (Mike) Oquist and son Jim (“favorite daughter-in-law” Anne) Russell all of La Junta. Grandchildren Kaycee & Emily Schleich, Dillon & Chad Martin, Braxton, Dallas, Whitni, Dyson & Chance Oquist and Sophie Russell, sister Mary Cranson of La Junta, brother Tead (Earlene) Russell of Denver, sister-in-law Barbara (Frank) Crosson of Colorado Springs, numerous nieces and nephews & a host of very special friends.
