Albert Siegfried

July 22, 1922 — April 23, 2016

Albert Siegfried, 93, passed away on April 23, 2016 at his La Junta home. He was born to Gottfried & Julianna (Manweiler) Siegfried on July 22, 1922 in Sugar City, CO. He married Hilda Grasmick on July 18, 1948; she preceded him in death on May 22, 2013.
 
Albert graduated from Sugar City High School class of 1941. He was then drafted into the military service. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1941-1945. Throughout his service he served on Army bases in Midland, TX, Aberdeen, MD, and Kingman, AZ. He was a PFC with the 2053rd Ordnance Company and completed Aviation Gunnery School at Kingman Air Field. Albert was decorated for efficiency and quality of work.
 
Upon returning to Sugar City in January of 1946, he went to work on the family farm until his retirement in October of 1994. He and Hilda later moved to La Junta after his retirement where he lived out the rest of his days.
 
Albert was a huge supporter of FFA and the activities of the Holly and Rocky Ford FFA chapters.
 
He is survived by his son, Larry (Kathy) Siegfried of La Junta, six grandchildren and two nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Richard, five brothers, and one sister.
 
In lieu of flowers those wishing to do so may make memorial contributions to the Trinity Lutheran Church direct or through the funeral home.

Graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lakeview Cemetery in Sugar City with Reverend Rick Miller of the Trinity Lutheran Church in La Junta officiating. Military Honors will be by the Rocky Ford Rifle Team, American Legion Post #8. 
Memorial service will then follow burial at 11:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in La Junta.
