Alice Blea, 78, of La Junta, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at her son’s home in La Junta. Visitation will be on Monday, May 11th from 9 to noon at the Peacock Memorial Chapel. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Monday, May 11th at 2 p.m. and Funeral Mass will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Our Lady of Guadalupe/ St. Patrick Parish with Father Don Malin of St. Peter’s Catholic Church officiating. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.She was born on February 20, 1931 to Alex & Nellie (Torres) Esquibel in Swink, Colorado. She married Raymond Blea, who preceded her in death on November 27, 2005.Alice worked for the Child Development Services for 25 years. She also was a member of the Circle of Ladies of Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish. Alice will be sadly missed by her loving family and friends.She is survived by her children, Genevieve (Roy) Martinez, Raymond (Connie) Blea, Jr., Nellie (Edward) Martinez, Stephanie (Vince A.) Blea, Christina (Dave) Blea-Carrillo, Sarah (Edwin F.) Hernandez, and Felipe (Valerie) Blea; four brothers and four sisters; 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and one great,great-grandson also survive.Alice was preceded in death by her loving husband, Raymond Blea.Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
