Alice Jean Elam, 82 of Cheraw passed away on January 2, 2017 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center in La Junta. She was born on December 7, 1934 to Vogal & Ruby (Shelton) Sandlin in Crestone, Colorado. She married Leroy Elam on June 9, 1971, in Albuquerque, N.M.; he preceded her in death on November 28, 2013.
Alice has resided in Cheraw for 42 years. She was very active in the Cheraw United Methodist Church, she loved gardening, dancing, traveling, cooking and spending time with her family and she was an amazing hostess.
She is survived by her sons, Joe (Sherry Grasmick) Crow of La Junta; Larry Crow of Cheraw; Doug (Jennifer) Crow of Atwood, CO; grandchildren, Kristopher Crow, Keith Crow, Cory Crow, Cody Crow, Alicia (Rob Devoter) Downing, Natasha Marshall, Nakia Crow, Shawnee Crow, Krystal Crow, Jake (Chauna) Elam, Brandon (Lori) Elam, and Lindsey (Calvin) Kind; numerous great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Leroy Elam; sister, Velma McClintock.
A memorial service will be held at the Cheraw United Methodist Church on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Ed Kite of the First Church of God in La Junta officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Sangre De Cristo Hospice, 124 W. Cranston Avenue, Fowler, CO, 81039 direct or through the funeral home.
