Arlita Ruth (Pantier) Beebe was born on February 12, 1927 in Formosa, Kansas to Floyd and Lila (Quick) Pantier. Arlita passed away January 10, 2013 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Nursing Care Center, she was 85.  Her family moved to Colorado when she was a year old. She attended school in Rocky Ford through the 7th grade except for one year in Lamar. She attended 8th grade through high school in La Junta graduating in 1945.

Between her Junior and Senior year in high school she went to work at the La Junta Army Air Base as an airplane engine mechanic on B-25 bombers. She worked at the base through her senior year. It was while she was working at the base that she met her future husband, Larry Beebe. Larry and Arlita were married on September 22, 1945 in Roswell, New Mexico. After his discharge they settled in La Junta where they lived until 1966 when they moved to Cheraw.

Arlita worked many years at office work. She retired as manager of the San Isabel Federal Credit Union in La Junta in 1984. She was active in many organizations through her life such as the Federal Grand Jury in Denver for 18 months. She was the first woman elected to the Cheraw School Board and was very active in many school and church activities. She was a leader for Brownies, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Webelos, & 4-H. She also taught Sunday school, Bible school, did volunteer at the school and she & Larry didn’t miss a Cheraw athletic event.

Larry died in 2003 after 57 happy years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents, step-dad- Joe Smiley, step-mother Velda Pantier, sisters- Betty Selvage, & Wanda Holderby, Granddaughter- Joanna Leigh Beebe, & many aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends.

She is survived by daughter Dawna (Larry) Cunningham, Sons Dan (Mary) Beebe & Dave Beebe; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. Also survived by sister Barbarba Hendrie and brother Dale (Lois) Pantier.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Cheraw United Methodist Church, 204 South 4th Street, Cheraw, CO, 81030 direct or through the funeral home.

Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.



Funeral services will be Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at the Cheraw United Methodist Church with Reverend Tom Dudley officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel.
