Baltazar Lee Lopez

Baltazar Lee Lopez, 77, of Fowler passed away at the Fowler Heath Care on December 18, 2020. He was known as Lee by most, was born on October 10, 1943 to Isabel & Dolores (Ramirez) Lopez.

He graduated from Manzanola High School in 1963. After high school Lee joined that Army and served his country. Upon returning from the Vietnam War, Lee found his passion in being a mechanic. He worked as a mechanic at Lopez Conoco, where he met the love of his life, Joan Bersagel. Lee and Joan married on December 22, 1982. Then on January 17th, 1983 Lee meet the second joy of his life their daughter, Elizabeth Marie. Lee’s passion was not only being a mechanic but also loved hunting with his nephews and closest friends Joe and Tom. Later in his life many people would remember him driving in his green bronco helping his sister deliver the Pueblo Chieftain. When he was unable to work anymore his joy became working in his garage and making sure his lawn was perfect. He was a man of few words but always had a heart of gold and willing to help. After many years of being at home with his wife and daughter in 2013 Lee moved to Fowler Health Care. Many people would remember Lee by his contagious yet ornery smile.

He leaves behind his wife, Joan; daughter, Elizabeth Lopez both of the family home; brothers, Jesus (Oli) Lopez of Fowler; Pete (Toni) Lopez of Ordway; sister, Elise Lopez of Monte Vista, CO; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Tony and John Lopez, Johnny Mendez; sisters, Tula Vasquez, Lupe Mendez, Alvera Lopez and Dolores Lopez; brothers-in-law, Chris Lopez and Pete Vasquez; nephews, Pete Vasquez, Jr., Izzy Vasquez and Justin Vasquez.

A Graveside service will be held on Monday, Monday, December 28, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at the Fowler Cemetery with Father Paul Ekeh of the St. Peter’s Catholic Church officiating.
