Barbara Ann Powers, 92, passed away in the loving care of the Fowler Healthcare Center in Colorado on March 31st, 2022. She was born on February 8th, 1930, in Hampton, Iowa to Lulu Mae (Eitel) & C.S. “Pat” Hamilton, Jr. She graduated from Hampton High School in 1948. Barbara was married to Joseph Powers, II on October 3rd, 1948, for about 30 years. They had two children, Joy Lyn and Joseph Powers, III.

Barbara had a natural gift of music which she loved. She would even make records when she was young and send them to her brothers in the war. Barbe also sang in a trio with her family and great friend Joane. Her voice was heard in church and with a group called “The Treble Clef”.

Barbara eventually made her way to California with all her items packed in a pinto station wagon along with her antique wooden table strapped to the top. She got a great job at a beauty salon where she managed the front. She was fabulous at multitasking. This is where she met the love of her life, Ron Panda. She and he lived the California lifestyle for years allowing her family to visit and enjoy the surroundings. When Barbe was finally able to retire, she and Ron moved to La Junta to be near her daughter Joy and Joy’s family. She was instrumental in the daily care of her four great-grandchildren. She lived in La Junta for 27 years. Barbara Powers loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She adored her family and spending time outside. Barbe was an amazing seamstress and candle maker. She loved good conversation and coffee. She made the best cookie salad the world ever tasted.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Joy (Fred) Klein; son, J.C. Powers, III; grandson, Heath (Renee) Klein; granddaughter, Heidi Klein (Ross Leyba, Jr.); great-grandchildren, Silas Moreno, Marlon Moreno, Mary Leyba and Baby Ross Leyba, III. Many Hamilton side nieces, nephews, and cousins. She loved them all. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings and their spouses, Robert (Nell); C.J. “Bud” (Ruby); Howard (Lucille); Stanley; Dean (Norma), Patricia (Melvin) and Bonnie (Daryl); nephew, Dennis Hamilton and cousin, Alan Meyer.
