Barbara Jean Broce

May 7, 1940 — May 25, 2015

Barbara Jean Broce 75, of Cheraw passed away on May 25, 2015. She was born on May 7, 1940 in Pritchett, Colorado to Virgil Huffman and Dorothea Mayo. Barbara married Gene Broce on December 15, 1954 in Clayton, New Mexico.

They lived their early years around the Boise City, Oklahoma area. In 1968 Gene and Barbara moved their family to Cheraw, where they opened a local grocery store. After having the store for three or four years they decided to close it and later opened Broce's Well Service. Barbara was the bookkeeper in the family business until she passed away. Barbara truly loved watching her grandkids and great grandkids in all their activities. No matter what the event was, including 4-H, sporting events and rodeos she was their biggest fan. You could always count on a great meal, cup of coffee, or something she had baked when you stopped in for a visit.

She is survived by her husband, Gene of the family home, daughter, Candi Patton, sons, Frank (Rhonda) Broce, Loyd (Robin) Broce all of Cheraw; brothers, Myrlin (Cotton) Huffman of Vernal, Utah and Mickey Adams of Walsh, Colorado; sisters, Bonnie Montgomery of Springfield, Colorado; Tonia Anderson of Pritchett, Colorado; sister-in-laws, Irene Huffman of Springfield; Marjorie Woods of Boise City, Oklahoma and Kay Thompson of Campo; brother-in-law, Roy (Francis) Broce; grandchildren, Kylene (Ryan) Reed of Bushland, Texas; Kirsten (Brian) Bonds of Cheraw; Clayton Broce of Amarillo, Texas; Kyle Broce, Lindsay (Tyler) Graham, and Chelsea Broce all of Cheraw; great-grandchildren, Mason & Jaxon Reed of Bushalnd, Texas; Easton & Landrey Bonds of Cheraw; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Kelley Broce, brothers, Darrell Huffman, Dale Huffman, Ricky Adams.

Barbara will be dearly missed. We know that she would want us to give a special thank you to her many friends, Rev. Tom Dudley, and Dr. Schmucker.
