Barbara Louise Rosales, 70, of La Junta, peacefully went to be with Our Lord on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at UC Health Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO.
Barbara was born on August 27, 1951, to parents, Miguel Floyd & Viola Medina, Sr. in Pueblo, CO. She was a 1970 graduate of La Junta High School where she was a letter girl and received the “Most School Spirit” award.
In 1971, Barbara married Froilan J. Rosales, Jr in La Junta, CO and lived the majority of her adult life in Southern California. Although this union was not permanent, Barbara remained in Southern California until she retired from Elgar Electronics-AMETEK Programmable Power Inc. where she was a Sr. Buyer of Government Products Division. Upon returning home, Barbara embraced the loving role of caregiver of her mother after the passing of her father in 2013.
Barbara was affectionately known as “Bobbie”, “Bob”, “Barb”, “Barbie”, “Babbs” to family and friends. Barbara was an avid Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies fan. She referred to the Denver Broncos as “her babies”. Barbara enjoyed her vacation trips to Laughlin, NV where she would frequent the casinos and entertainment shows. Barbara was a lover of music, specifically Oldies, Elvis Presley and Spanish music but her family, friends, and faith were her greatest loves. Barbara was a wonderful older sister and surrogate parent to her siblings, as well as a loving aunt to her nephews and nieces. Selflessness and generosity were two of her greatest traits that highlighted her personality. She represented the good that we all need every day in our lives. We are proud to have been able to call Barbara our daughter, sister, aunt, Godmother and friend.
Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Miguel Floyd Medina, Sr. She leaves to cherish her memory, mother, Viola Medina of La Junta, CO, siblings: Miguel Floyd (Jean) Medina Jr., Eva (Joe) Sanchez, Carl Medina, all of Colorado Springs, CO; Nancy (Bill) Root, Montrose, CO; Lisa (Paul) Sedillo, La Junta, CO and Carla (Michael) Claudio, Colorado Springs, CO; 16 nephews and nieces; 11 great-nephews and nieces; and five Godchildren. She is also survived by best friend, Pam Harvill, special sister-in-law, Eunice Rodriguez, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and last but not least, Barbara’s beloved dog Brownie aka “Twinkie”.
Barbara loved fiercely and deeply, and we take comfort in knowing that she is now at peace with Our Lord. She will be missed more than words can describe.
