Ben Nathaniel Hall

April 24, 1929 — October 7, 2024

Ben Nathaniel Hall, was born Wednesday, April 24, 1929 in Cheraw, Colorado to James & Florence (Loomis) Hall. He passed away peacefully Monday, October 7, 2024, in La Junta, leaving a legacy marked by dedication and a love for the open road.

Ben attended the schools in Cheraw, where he laid the foundation for a life rich with experiences. In his younger years, Ben worked for Gooch’s in Cheraw and met the love of his life, Melva Sue while she was working at Wellsworth Creamery. They were married on June 2, 1950, bringing together two warm hearts together for a lifetime of love and companionship.

Ben enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a long-haul truck driver, a profession he passionately pursued from 1952 until 2000. His time spent on the road was not just a job for him; it was a cherished part of his life that brought him immense joy. The freedom of driving allowed him to explore diverse landscapes and connect with people across the nation.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Ben was a man of varied interests. He had a deep-seated passion for reading western books and found great pleasure in watching old westerns on television. These activities provided him both entertainment and a sense of nostalgia. Additionally, he enjoyed spending time fishing, a pastime that allowed him to relax and appreciate the tranquility of nature.

Ben's community involvement and sense of camaraderie were evident through his membership in The International Order of Odd Fellows. This organization reflected his commitment to service and fellowship, traits that he embodied throughout his life.

As we remember Ben, we celebrate a man who lived with purpose, embraced the joys of life, and fostered connections with those around him. His spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
