Ben Rodriguez

Ben Rodriguez, 83, of Rocky Ford passed away on September
16, 2015 at the Center of Centennial in Colorado Springs. He was born in
Fowler, Colorado to Thomas & Seferina (Ortega) Rodriguez. He married
Adelina Reyes-Chaparro.
 
Ben was a decorated Korean War Veteran. He was an active member
of St. Peter’s Catholic Church where he was a lecturer. He was also actively
involved in the annual Church Bazaar, Rocky Ford City Council and the La Junta
LULAC Council. He was currently active as a Spanish/English language
interpreter. He was employed by and was very involved with the Migrant Council,
FEMA and BOCES.
 
Ben enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and
will be missed dearly by them all. He enjoyed growing his own produce and
keeping his lawn manicured.
 
He is survived by
his wife, Adelina of the Rocky Ford home; children, Michael Rodriguez of Alb,
NM; Rena (Rick) Harrel of Lapel, IN; Linda (Mike) Gabbert of Charlotte, NC; Martha
(Maggie Martinez) Rodriguez of Alb, NM; Stephanie (Eddie) Muro of Alb, NM; Paula
(Carlos) Bautista of Whittier, CA; Martin (Lisa) Rodriguez of Houston, TX;
stepchildren, Ramona (Daniel) Garcia, Jane Aguilar, Danny (Chris) Chaparro,
Lisa (Sam) Beccerra, and Crystal Chaparro; 18 grandchildren, and 14
great-grandchildren, and numerous great, great-grandchildren. He was preceded
in death by his parents, children, Lawrence Rodriguez, Johnny Rodriguez, Mary
Ann Rodriguez, and Rebecca (Walter) Collins; stepchildren, Geno and Michelle.
 
 

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. and Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. both services at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Rocky Ford with Father Paul Ekeh officiating. Interment will follow at Ft. Lyon National Cemetery at 12:00 p.m. with military honors by the Rocky Ford Rifle Team, American Legion Post #8.
