Berna Deen Tyler

June 22, 1928 — March 19, 2011

Berna Deen Tyler, 82, mother to Ronald, Byron, Nancy, Duwane, Jerome, Karen and Sharon Tyler, passed away peacefully in the company of her loving family on Saturday, March 19, 2011. She joins her husband of 60 years Claude Guy Ty1er, Jr., who died on January 5, 2008.

“Bernadeen,” as her friends and family called her, was born in La Junta, Colorado on June 22, 1928. She attended Rocky Ford High School before moving to Los Angeles, California with her husband where they spent the rest of their lives working and raising their wonderful family.

In appreciation for the community service provided by the Los Angeles Police and Fire Departments, she threw a block party every Fourth of July for twenty years.

Bernadeen was President of the Ceramic-Hobbies and Crafts Association. One of her quilts was so outstanding that it is on permanent display at the Rocky Ford Public Library. Loving arts and crafts so much, Bernadeen spent many years teaching it to children in the community.

She is survived by her seven children; daughter-in-law, Becky; dear family friend, Henry Taylor; grandchildren, Trenton, Ryan, Kayla and Crystal; great-granddaughter, Lola; brother, Leland Reed and her sister, Sue Welch.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. at the Fairview Cemetery with Reverend Terilynn Russ of the United Methodist Church officiating.

Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
