Bernice E. Aragon, 70, of Rocky Ford, died at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs on Nov. 14, 2013. She was born to Cruz & Ruth (Sanchez) Cordova on April 25, 1943 in Sopris, CO.
Mrs. Aragon was owner of B&J Collectibles in Rocky Ford. She also had her own cattle brand and owned a cattle ranch. Prior to her business ventures, Mrs. Aragon was a certified nurse assistant at Pioneer Health Care Center; worked for the Colorado Migrant Council; and was a homemaker.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Cruz Sr. and Ruth Cordova; son, Joseph Aragon; brothers, John, Frank, and Thomas Cordova; and sister Bernice. Bernice is survived by her husband, Joe F. Aragon of Rocky Ford; daughters, Darlene (Simon) Aragon of Colorado Springs and Cindy (Cary) Cardenas of Pueblo West; brothers, Jerry Cordova and Cruz Cordova Jr. both of Rocky Ford; and sisters, Florida (George) Vigil of Denver, Rosemary Wentling of Champaign, Il. and Jane (John) Hernandez of La Junta, sisters and brothers-in-law, Dan Aragon, Ann (Armando) Melgoza, and Molly (Tony) Trujillo. Other survivors include grandchildren, Michael A. Romero, Jr., Sharol, Delfino Victor, Jr., Dereck Martinez, Brandon, and Keri Cardenas; one great-grandchild, Marlena Rivas; and nieces, nephews, and friends.
Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, at 6:00 p.m. and Funeral Mass will be Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at 10:00 a.m., both services at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church with Father Paul Ekeh officiating. Interment will follow the Mass at the Rocky Ford Cemetery.
