Bob Bemiss

Robert “Bob” Bemiss, 65, departed this life on December 2,
2013, in La Junta. Bob was born in La Junta on April 6, 1948, to C.W. “Bill”
and Alma (Murray) Bemiss. He married Sandy Gerler on May 13, 1972 in La Junta.


 


He was a life-time resident of La Junta and graduated from
La Junta High School in 1966. Bob joined the United States Army in early1968
and served until October 1971.


 


Bob worked for Citizens Utilities/Kinder-Morgan/SourceGas
from 1972 until his retirement in 2010. Bob often described himself as “square”
and a patriot, and he loved his family dearly.  He took special joy in his two grandchildren,
Ella Becker and Jacob Bemiss.


 


He is survived by his wife, Sandy of the La Junta home;
daughter, Elaine (Randy) Bemiss-Becker of Parker, Colorado; son, Eric
(Kimberly) Bemiss of Brighton, Colorado; and two grandchildren, Ella Becker and
Jacob Bemiss; sister, Roberta (Orville) Melton of Limon, Colorado; brothers, Charles
(Loni) Barber of Phoenix, Arizona, George (Sue) Bemiss of La Junta; and sister,
Nancy (Jon) Vandiver of Rye, Colorado; also numerous nieces and nephews also
survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and several grandparents.





The family respectfully requests the omission of flowers and
asks instead that memorials be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, La Junta, or to
the Wounded Warrior Project www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate.


 


Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of
arrangements.



Memorial service will be held Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 11:00 a.m., at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 16th & Raton Avenue, La Junta with Pastor Rick Miller officiating.
