Candace L. Cheney

Candace L. Cheney, 97, of La Junta passed away on February 16, 2017 at the Bent County Memorial Nursing Home in Las Animas. She was born on August 18, 1919 in Hoytsville, Utah to James & Ester (Sargent) Orr. She married Ralph R. Cheney, Sr. on July 13, 1942 in Malad City, Idaho; he preceded her in death on March 31, 1990.

She graduated high school in Morgan, Utah. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in La Junta.

She is survived by her children, Evelyn Stoddard of Roy, Utah; Ralph, Jr. (Carol) Cheney of Tacoma, WA; Mary Miller of Liberal, KS; Ray G. Cheney of Ordway, Colorado; Glen (Margaret) Cheney of Kambalda, Australia; Lynn (Denise) Cheney of Alamogordo, NM; Cathy (Steve) Pratt of San Antonio, Texas; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-children and 17 great, great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers and three sisters.

Funeral service will be Thursday, February 23, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with Bishop Jared Efrid officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in La Junta. Visitation will be prior to services at the church from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
