Carolyn K. Thomas

March 21, 1945 — November 14, 2017

Carolyn Thomas, 72, passed away on November 14, 2017 at her La Junta home. She was born in La Junta, Colorado to Ada and Jeff Willhoite on March 21, 1945. She married Donald Ray Thomas in Guymon, OK. in 1970; he preceded her in death.

She graduated from La Junta High School in 1964. Most recently, she worked as a Greeter at Walmart and as a Cashier for Wallace Oil.

Carolyn is described by her family as a fiery and generous woman; who loved them unconditionally. She often opened her home to those in need and was known for putting the needs others before herself, demonstrated by the years she spent caring for her mother before her passing. She was candid, you could count on her to tell you exactly what she thought, a trait well refined by raising four strong willed boys. Her quirky and witty sense of humor often afforded her the perfect come back needed to keep up with her sons. Her life was full of love and laughter and she was the glue that kept her family together.

She is survived by her children, Danny (Cathy) Thomas of Pampa, TX; Michael (Debbie) Thomas of La Junta; Steve (Bonnie) Thomas of Ft. Collins; Jay (Lora) Thomas of La Junta; siblings, Robert (Shelee) Willhoite of Rocky Ford; Linda (Kenny) Franks of Watonga, OK; Jack Willhoite of La Junta; grandchildren, Seven, Wally, McKenzie, Shelton, Cash, Taylor, Lacy, Wyatt also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother Pat Willhoite.
