Catherine Joan Baker

Catherine Joan Baker, 79, of Ordway passed away on November 14, 2017 at the Crowley County Nursing Center in Ordway. She was born on April 30, 1938 to James Herbert & Helen L. (Sober) Ervin north of Crowley. She married Paul Allen Baker on February 19, 1956.

She graduated from Crowley County High School. They resided in Crowley where they raised five children. Catherine helped support the family while her husband worked ranch jobs and drove a truck. She was a hard worker and had numerous jobs. Early in her life she worked at CCNC, Millers Western Wear, she drove a school bus for many years and was a long time employee at Loaf N Jug in Rocky Ford until she retired in 2004. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, camping and spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her children, Helen (Bob) Bennett of Pueblo West; Belinda Engstrom of Ordway; Catherine (Don) Tuner of Bailey, CO; James Baker of Ordway; and Frank (Vicky) Baker of Ordway; grandchildren, Melissa (Brandon) Adams, Mathew and Corey Engstrom, Dustin, Cody, Devin, Michel and Josh Baker, Jamie Gibson, Ty, Bailey, and Rigan Pfeiff, JoAllen and Skeater Baker and seven great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul A. Baker on July 23, 1999; grandson, Dale Baker.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. the Ordway Baptist Church with Pastor Parker officiating.
