Earl Cecil King, 78, of La Junta, passed away at the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center. He was born in Hartman, Colorado to Audra Cecil & Ida Matilda (Orr) King on November 7, 1934. He married Patricia Ann Miller on June 6, 1954 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Las Animas, Colorado.
Cecil went to school in Las Animas until January of 1952 when his family moved to Rocky Ford, where he graduated high school class of 1952. He was a member of the Nazarene Church. Cecil was a farm equipment dealer, farmer, and rancher.
Cecil is survived by his wife, Patricia of the La Junta home; children, Chandra (John) Swope of La Junta; Doug (Janet) King of Las Animas; Ed (Patty) King of La Junta; Judy (Mike) Mussleman of Burleson, TX; sister, Carolyn (Van) Douglas of Purcell, OK; brother-in-law, Leonard Henderson of Loveland, CO; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Virginia Henderson and Marilyn (Merlin) Keys.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Arkansas Valley Hospice, PO Box 408, La Junta, CO, 81050 or to the First Church of the Nazarene in Las Animas direct or through the funeral home.
Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, January 3, 2013, at the First Church of the Nazarene in La Junta with Reverend R.W. Carpenter officiating.
