Cecilia Miera

November 22, 1933 — January 19, 2019

Cecilia Miera passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at her home in La Junta, Colorado while surrounded by family members. Cecilia was born in La Junta, Colorado on November 22, 1933, to the union of Trinidad and Esperanza (Magana) Carrillo.

She was the eldest of six children, and was preceded in death by her parents, Trinidad and Esperanza Carrillo, loving husband, John L. Miera; sons, John L. Miera Jr. and Mark A. Miera; brothers, Andrew Carrillo and Richard F. Carrillo.

Cecilia was first employed as a photographic assistant and technician at Roos Studios and attended Otero Junior College where she studied Adult Education. She became a certified Cake & Pastry Chef and retired from Child Development Services as head cook, then continued using her culinary skills as kitchen manager for Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick's Catholic Parish.

She is survived by her daughters, Christine Miera-Rael and Kathryn (George) Rivera; siblings, Gilbert (Lupe) Carrillo, Margaret Carrillo, and Florence (Chris) Flores, Cordy Carrillo (sister-in-law); grandchildren, JoAnn (Michael) Jaramillo, Rachel Perez, Victor Perez Jr., Diane (Frankie Lovato) Mendez, Isaac Miera, Jonathan Miera, Jessica (Efrem) Sandoval, great grandchildren; Carlos Rodriguez, Donavin Baca, Sarah Perez, Janiah Miera, Eliseo Jaramillo, and Ean Sandoval, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family expresses their deep appreciation to her caregiver Samantha Cordova, and the Arkansas Valley Hospice team.

Services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Saturday, January 26th, Rosary at 9:30 am, funeral Mass at 10:00 am. A reception will be held at the Knights of Columbus, 118 Steen Avenue, La Junta, immediately following the services.

Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
