Charles “Chuck” Henry Vowles

September 1, 1943 – August 28, 2024 

Charles H. Vowles, 80, of Manzanola, lost his two year battle to cancer and passed away at home surrounded by his family on August 28, 2024. 

Chuck was born on September 1, 1943 to Henry Charles and Gladys (Bye) Vowles in Belvidere, Illinois. After Chuck graduated from Hiawatha High School in Kirkland, Illinois in 1962, he served in the National Guard for six years.  

In 1965, Chuck met Norma and they got married on January 18, 1966. Chuck and Norma went on to have five children; Henry, David, Christine, Jennifer and Wanda. 

A master carpenter, Charles spent over 60 years leaving his indelible mark on the valley through his craftsmanship. His skills and work were widely admired and can be seen in the homes that stand as a testament to his dedication and talent. 

Chuck worked for Eisert Construction for twenty-five plus years then after that company closed, he went on to own his own business, ‘Chuck’s Home Repairs’ doing odds and ends as he could for family and friends. 

Our Dad will always be with us. A limb has fallen from the family tree that says grieve not for me… Remember the best times, the laughter, and the song. The good life I lived while I was strong. 

Chuck is survived by his wife, Norma Vowles of the Manzanola home; children: Henry (Renee) Vowles of Dubach, LA; David (Heather) Vowles of Pueblo, CO; Christine (John) Schulz of Olney Springs, CO; Jennifer (Johnny McMurray) Love of Rocky Ford, CO; and Wanda Garner of Manzanola, CO; 14 grandchildren; 19 great- grandchildren; his sister, Nancy (Ray) Harris of Rocky Ford, CO; his nephews; Harry (Leslie) Vowles of Rustin, LA and Brian (Krystal) Vowles of Rustin, LA; and 4 great nieces and nephews. Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, Henry & Gladys Vowles; brother, Willie Vowles and son-in-law, Gary Love. 

Celebration of Life for Charles will be held at the Vowles Family Home, 421 N. Grand Avenue; Manzanola, CO 81058, on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 1:00 p.m..
