Charlie L. Strandberg

July 5, 1933 — July 13, 2016

Charlie L. Strandberg, 83, went to be with the Lord on July 13, 2016 at his home in Walsenburg, CO. He was born on July 5, 1933 in La Junta, Colorado to Ole & Mattie (Lower) Strandberg.

Charlie served in the United States Navy, after graduating high school from La Junta High where he met his high school sweetheart. Charlie and Charlene were married shortly after and had three children. They were married until Charlene's passing in 1999.

He loved horses and had a passion for hunting and fishing. You would often find him at auctions where he enjoyed finding unique coins, marbles, and old clocks. He was also an avid Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies fan. We will always remember him for his contagious laugh and friendly demeanor. He enjoyed telling stories and making people laugh.

Charlie is survived by his three children, Craig Strandberg, Charles Strandberg, and Cindy Dennis; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; his brother, Leonard "George" (Loretta) Strandberg; and many nieces, nephews, and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, siblings, Maxine, Opal, Jr, and Raymond Strandberg.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 18, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ft. Lyon National Cemetery with Pastor Ron Skorick of the First Christian Church officiating with military honors by the Rocky Ford Rifle Team, American Legion Post #8.

The family of Charlie would like to thank all of the staff at Spanish Peaks Veteran Community Living in Walsenburg, CO.

In lieu of flowers those wishing to do so may make memorial contributions to the Spanish Peaks Veterans Community Living Center, 23500 US Hwy 160, Walsenburg, CO, 81089 direct or through the funeral home.
