Cheri Lenn Shaw

Cheri Lenn Shaw, 52, of La Junta, died March 24, 2023, unexpectedly at Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family. Cheri was born September 22, 1970 in Colorado Springs, CO to Linda (Tucker) and Alfred G. Yahraus, Jr.

Cheri graduated from Rocky Ford High School Class of 1989. she earned her nursing aide and worked in several nursing homes. She worked at Harris Healthmart. Most recently she worked at Crowley County Correctional Facility as a programs clerk in the education department. Cheri’s favorite thing to do was to spend time with her family and her dogs. She enjoyed fishing and researching her genealogy.

Cheri is survived by her husband, Terry of the La Junta home; mother, Linda Yahraus; sons, Frank (Stephanie) Szmutko, Andru (Shania Angel) Szmutko, and Michael (Koryn Condit) Szmutko, Jr.; grandchildren, Tayla Szmutko, Landen Szmutko, & Malaki Rael; brother, Alfred G. Yahraus, III; sisters, Sandra (Steph) Qualls, Terri Habban, and Sherri Yahraus; uncle, Mike Tucker; nieces, Crystal (Erik) Voss & Megan Collins; step-daughters, Terri Shaw & Cassandra Shaw.

Cheri was preceded in death by her father, Alfred G. Yahraus, Jr., grandparents, Elmer and Lennie Tucker, and uncles, J.C. and Robert Tucker.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
