Cynthia Ann Perez, a beloved member of her community, was born on June 26, 1954, and departed from this world on November 3, 2024. A vibrant presence in the lives of many, Cynthia’s essence can be captured in her kindness, infectious energy, and the unconditional love she bestowed upon her family and friends.
Cindy grew up in a Navy family which had the family moving several times throughout her childhood. She graduated from Westminster High School in Westminster, CO and went on to forge a successful career. She began her professional journey at the Shasta Soda Company before transitioning to a law firm in Castle Rock, Colorado. Her career flourished as she devoted 32 years to the Douglas County Planning Department, ultimately retiring as a Senior Planner.
Cindy's proudest accomplishments reside not only within her career but also within her family. She raised three children—Shawn, Michael and Christopher Perez—in the picturesque mountains of Sedalia, Colorado. As a mother, she imparted invaluable lessons about kindness and respect, shaping her children into good people who carry her legacy with them every day. The memories of laughter and love shared within their inviting home are etched in the hearts of all who knew her.
In her personal life, Cindy was deeply loved by her partner of 24 years, Xavier Rechignac, who stood by her side through countless moments of joy. Cindy's interests illuminated her vibrant personality. She found solace in her garden, where she spent joyful hours planting flowers and watching the birds delight in her birdbath. Music resonated deeply within her, whether attending events with family, relishing in the thrill of DU hockey or enjoying Denver Broncos football games, Cynthia embraced every moment with a bright smile, her laughter echoing through the air.
Cindy is survived by Xavier Rechignac; children, Shawn Perez, Michael (Melissa) Perez, and Christopher (Ali) Perez; cherished fur friends, Harley-Quinn and Olive; siblings, Rodney (Lucy) Worrell, Nancy Travis, and Gary Worrell, along with numerous nieces and nephews who will remember her for her endless love and support. She is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Mickayla Slade, former husband J.R. Perez, and her parents, Vernon and Geraldine Worrell.
With heavy hearts, her family will hold her memory close as they mourn the loss of such a bright light in their lives. Her life, though prematurely concluded, leaves behind a profound legacy of love, kindness, and joyous memories.
Cindy loved flowers! So wear light colors to honor her love for them. In addition, those wishing to do so, are encouraged to bring or order flowers either on the front range or from the florist in La Junta (www.promenadeflorals.com). The family would also like to thank all who have reached out offering condolences and offerings. Anyone who would like to bring cookies or a dessert for the reception are encouraged to do so.
Family and friends are invited to honor Cynthia’s memory during her Funeral Service, at Greenwood Community Church in Greenwood Village, Colorado, on November 14, 2024, at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow at Littleton Cemetery located at 6155 S Prince Street; Littleton, CO 80120. Reception to follow at Greenwood Community Church.
In her departure, we remember not only the life she lived but also the hearts she touched, the lessons she imparted, and the love she shared, eternally etched in the tapestry of those who had the privilege to know her.
