Darrell D. Miller

September 28, 1934 — May 19, 2013

Darrell Miller, 78, passed away May 19, 2013 at Penrose Medical Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  He was born on Sept. 28, 1934 in La Junta, Colorado to Henry & Lydia (Will) Miller. He married Doris Wright on Jan. 27, 1952 in La Junta.

Darrell was born and raised in the Fort Bent area.  He farmed in his early years, worked for many years in the City of La Junta Electric Department, and worked for 20 years for Southeast Colorado Power Authority (SECPA) retiring in 1998.  Darrell coached little league baseball for many years while his boys were growing up and he enjoyed fishing. He enjoyed being with his family and friends and he will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Doris of the La Junta home; sons, Roger Miller of La Junta, Rex (Dixie) Miller of Lamar, Hank Miller of La Junta, Jeff Miller of La Junta and Mark Miller of La  Junta; eight grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; brothers, Tom (Pat) Miller of Wisconsin and Ray (Jan) Miller of La Junta; sister, Elaine (Jim) Harper of Swink; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Darrell was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Bret Brisendine.

Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.


Graveside inurnment will be Friday, May 31, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery.  A memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church of La Junta with Reverend Terilynn Russ officiating.
