Deloss C. Hinkley

July 29, 1934 — January 13, 2019

Deloss C. “Doss” Hinkley, 84, of Fowler went to be with the Lord on January 13, 2019 after complications from a fall. He was born on July 29, 1934 in Stafford, Kansas to Loren Leslie & Lillian Agnes (Henry) Hinkley. He married Leona Bunch on January 24, 1959.

Doss attended high school in Holly. He served in the United States Marines Corp from 1952 to 1954. He worked as an engineer with the railroad for 39 years. He was a member of the Southern Baptist Church, a lifetime Elk, member of the United Transportation Union. Most important thing in Doss’s life was God and his family.

He is survived by his wife, Leona of the Fowler home; children, Clark Hinkley of La Junta; Rhonda (Bruce Greenwalt) Yeater of Colorado Springs; Leonard (Pam) Hinkley of Brighton; Dee (Kathy Frisbie) Robinson of Denver; grandchildren, Leanne (Drew) Matthews, Tyler (Shavon Davis) Hinkley, Jaron (Jessie Klein) Hinkley, Shannon (Ahmed Boneaparte) Yeater, Sarah (Bryan) Stafford, Nate (Brooke McKee) Robinson; great-grandchildren, Talon & Logan Matthews, Elizabeth & Zoey Hinkley, Elijah, Jeziah & Linkin Boneaparte; nieces, Alice (Nick) Denardo; Adopted daughter, Chirs (Mike) Musso; nephew, Charles (Bonnie) Mekeal; mother-in-law, Louise Bunch; brother-in-law’s, Wayne (Mary) Bunch and Rick (Sandy) Bunch; sister-in-law, Sherry Bunch; numerous nieces, nephews and special friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Southern Baptist Church with Pastor Brandon Mills officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in La Junta with military honors by the Rocky Ford Rifle Team, American Legion Post #8. Visitation will be held prior to service at 1:00 p.m. at the church.
