Dexter Pearl Torrez

Dexter Pearl Torrez, 83, of La Junta passed away on November 4, 2014 at the Parkview Hospital in Pueblo. She was born in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Patrick & Dexter (Bilderback) McGonagill. She met and married Tomas R. Torrez in 1983. 
 
She attended schools in Carlsbad. She worked as RN and LPN in Carlsbad then an RN in Big Springs, Texas at the V.A. for a year then transferred to the Ft. Lyon V.A. for one year before transferring back to Big Springs V.A. and moving to Amarillo in December of 1982.  She moved to La Junta in May of 2008.
 
She enjoyed reading her Bible, watching Christian programs and singing. She attended the Upperroom Fellowship.
 
She is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, Tommy of the La Junta home; children, John (Jerrie) Lawrence and Linda (Jim) Franco all of Carlsbad, NM; Brenda (Johnny) Gore of Showlow, AZ; grandchildren, Martin Lawrence, Rick (Anna) Encinias, Jr., Dexter Dawn Lawrence, Laura (Petronilo)  Salas, Brenda (Ricky) Amaya, Yolanda (Kevin) Franco Blair, Lavonda Franco, Jimmy Franco, Jr., Melissa Lawrence, Kathy Lawrence, Michael(Ashley) Lawrence, Mary Gore great-grandchildren, Avery, Hunter, Christain, Marilynn, Michael,  Raymond, Aliya, Alexia, Megan, Logan, Austin, Shyanne, Chantille, Clarissa, Zander, Josephina and Jimmy, III, Madison, Amber, Jocelyn, Zoey, Natasha, Bryson, Marty, Jr. and Naylee  and four soon to be born great-grandchildren; great, great-grandchild, Jordan.  She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Linzie Lawrence; daughter, Mary Elizabeth Lawrence; her brother, Layton McGonagill and sisters, Vira Andrews and Onamae, son-in-law, Rick Encinias, Sr.
 

A memorial services will be on November 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Upperroom Fellowship with Pastor Paul Simon officiating.
