Dona B. Aldea

Dona B. Aldea, 83, passed away on April 24, 2018 at the home of her daughter in Black Forest, Colorado. She was born on Aug. 20, 1934 in Hutchinson, Kansas to Newton & Florence (Sproule) Benscheidt. She married Victor Aldea on Jan. 28, 1956 in Raton, New Mexico; he preceded her in death on October 19, 2013.

Dona graduated with a degree in marketing from KU. She worked part time and raised the kids. Dona volunteered with many local organizations and was a past recipient of the Sun Shine Award.

Dona is survived by her daughter, Vicki (Steve) Nagy of Hilton Head, SC; son, Tom (Patti) Aldea of La Junta; daughters Sharon (John) Haughney of Clearwater, FL and Jane (Ed) Williams of Black Forest, CO; eight grandchildren, Shelli (Shane) Christensen, Alissa (Sam) Grossman, Kayla Williams, Aricka (Caulin) Hulsey, Victor Williams, Jessica Haughney, Joli Williams, and Joshua Haughney; great-granddaughters, Kaydie Grayce Hulsey and Lea Victoria Christensen; sisters, Gayle Call of Carmichael, CA and Helyn Flemming of Phoenix, AZ; and a brother Charles (Bonnie) Benscheidt of Hutchinson, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Victor Aldea and her brother, George Benscheidt.

A celebration of life service will be Sunday, April 29, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Dr. MJ Romano officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church and Otero Museum or to a local charity of choice direct or through the funeral home.
