Donald “Don” C. Lowman, 94, passed away at his La Junta home on Feb. 27, 2019. He was born on May 1, 1924 in Arvonia, Kansas to Clarence Jones & Opal Ruby (Green) Lowman. He married Gracia B. Hansen on May 28, 1988.
Don attended school in Kansas and then Browns Business College. Don served as a Seabee in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a Special Agent with the Santa Fe Railroad for 41 years. Don was an active member of the La Junta Lions Club, Eastern Star, Masonic Lodge, Shriner, Monday Evening Club, United Methodist Church Men, Otero Museum, and the Santa Fe Trail Association.
He is survived by his wife, Gracia of the La Junta home; daughters, Linda D. (Robert) Smith of Grand Island, NE, Deborah A. Smith of Colorado Springs, CO, Deanna L. (Benjamin) Tucker of Middleburg, FL, and Cynthia B. (Daryl) Rains of La Junta and their children, Taylor, David, and Isaac; grandchildren, Floyd E. Tucker and his daughter Melina, Katie F. Tucker, Sarah F. (Trevor) Campbell and their children Kayton, Asher, & Mackenzie, Jennifer (Ted) Wismeier and their child Erin, Kimberly Lowman, Renee (Mike) Yustick and their children Danielle & Robert, Mark (Lisa) Smith, Linda Kay (Marc) Cabrera and their children Kai & Kaemon; nieces and nephews, Brock (Debbie) Lowman, Susan Day, Susan (George) Huckabee, Stephan (Lisa) Hansen, Anna (Bill) Jones, and Bradley (Renee) Hansen; and brother-in-law, Larry (Barbara) Hansen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Opal, son, Robert Drew Lowman, first wife, Lucille Ruth Lowman, brother, Robert Lowman, and son-in-law, Kevin Michael Smith.
A memorial service will be held Monday, March 4, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the La Junta United Methodist Church with Reverend Lou Ward officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Otero Museum, the United Methodist Church of La Junta, Ark-Valley Hospice Assoc., or to a charity of choice.
