Donald Leon Eddy

January 15, 1944 — September 10, 2018

Donald Leon Eddy, 74, passed away on September 10, 2018 at this La Junta home. He was born on January 15, 1944 in La Junta to Ellis C. & Iva R. (Jenkins) Eddy.

He graduated from La Junta High School with the class of 1962. While in high school he was proud to join the National Guard and then went to basic training upon graduation. As he moved on, he worked for Phillips Petroleum and UPS for several years. Don took the opportunity to buyout Farmers Insurance and proceeded to further his livelihood with buying the Water Hole Liquor Store, which he worked for over 30 years alongside his two sons.

Don was a light-hearted man that put his efforts into the things that he enjoyed most. He got a thrill out of pets, fishing, traveling, hunting and anything to do with the mountains. He loved to share stories with his grandchildren and was filled with joy to hear their laughter. He also enjoyed attending the Valley Cowboy Church. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Don is survived by his sons, Chris Eddy and Brett Eddy both of La Junta; ex-wife, Lana (Kenneth) Hull of La Junta; grandchildren, Courtney (Jace) McCall, Kelsey Eddy and Brayton Eddy all of La Junta; great-grandchildren, Winnifred and Emmaline McCall. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis C. & Iva R. Eddy.
