Doris Miller

Doris Miller, 82, passed away May 9, 2016 at her La Junta home.  She was born on Oct. 26, 1933 in Sheridan Lake, Colorado to Arthur & Elsie (Downey) Wright. She married Darrell Miller on Jan. 27, 1952 in La Junta; he preceded her in death on May 19, 2013.
 
Doris worked for Mountain Bell for 20 years and at the La Junta Answering Service for several years. She was a huge Bronco's and Rockies fan, a great cook and loved her family. She will be greatly missed.  A special thank you to the staff at Evergreen Gardens for their help and compassion.
 
She is survived by her sons, Roger Miller of Las Animas, Rex (Dixie) Miller of Lamar, Hank Miller of La Junta, Jeff Miller of La Junta and Mark Miller of La  Junta; eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; brother, Lawrence (Mary) Wright of Alexandria, Virginia. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Darrell and grandson, Bret Brisendine.
 
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Arkansas Valley Hospice Assoc., P.O. Box 408, La Junta, CO, 81050 direct or through the funeral home.
 
Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

A memorial service will be Monday, May 16, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of La Junta. Inurnment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
