Edgar Roland Cavanah

Roland Cavanah, 95, of La Junta and formerly of Swink passed away on Monday, March 29, 2010 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center. A memorial service will be Monday, April 5, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Pastor Ramon Pacheco officiating.
He was born December 13, 1914 in Sibley, Illinois to Edgar & Bessie Myrtle (Pullin) Cavanah. Roland married Elva Summers on April 27, 1937 in Raton, New Mexico; Elva preceded Roland in death on April 21, 2009.
Roland attended school in Rocky Ford and was active in sports. He was employed for most of his adult life at the Holly Sugar Corp. in Swink, until he was transferred to Holly Sugar in California. He retired from Holly Sugar in Brawley, CA. He enjoyed watching sports, especially on T.V. and in his younger years enjoyed dancing with his wife of 71 years, Elva.
He is survived by his son, Larry (Delane) Cavanah of Grand Junction, CO; daughter, Vivian Severa of Camp Connell, CA; brother, Bob Cavanah of Pueblo, CO; grandsons, Todd Cavanah of Chicago, IL; Chris Cavanah of Grand Junction, CO; Jeff Severa of West Hills, CA; several great-grandchildren and great, great-grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar & Bessie Myrtle Cavanah, and his wife, Elva, four brothers and one sister.
Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
