Edward Gale Casebolt, 93, passed away on Sept. 11, 2023 at the Evergreen Gardens. He was born on September 25, 1929 in La Junta to Raymond & Gladys (Crabtree) Casebolt. He married Joan Lennon in 1949; she preceded him in death on December 8, 2016.
He worked for Fred Chapman in North La Junta then Vincent Grace at Sello’s grocery store and later Safeway until retiring in 1995. He was a meat cutter all of his life. He and Joan purchased the farm in 1962, where he enjoyed farming, raising cows, and killing every weed that tried to grow. Gale was a member of the United Methodist Church. Gale and Joan spent 50 years square dancing and traveled to almost every state, Europe, Caribbean and the Panama Canal.
He is survived by his son, Walter Lynn (Pauline) Casebolt of La Junta; daughter, Sharon Renae Gustine of Glenwood Springs, CO; grandson, Com. John Gustine of Pensacola, FL; granddaughters, Rebecca (Larry) Hardrick of Battlement Mesa, CO; Sheryl Casebolt of Pueblo, CO; Stephanie (Com. Phil) Staso of Yokoska, Japan; great-granddaughter, Juliet Staso; great-grandsons, Oliver Staso and Edward Gustine; also extended family of grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers, Ronald “Butch” Casebolt and Edwin Dale Casebolt and his wife Nancy; daughter-in-law, Jeanne Casebolt and an infant grandson.
Graveside services will be Friday, September 22, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery with Reverend Lynne Tabb of the United Methodist Church of La Junta officiating. All family and friends are welcome to join for a gathering at the United Methodist Church of La Junta, held at 11:30am following the graveside.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Ark Valley Hospice, PO Box 408, La Junta, CO 81050 direct or through the funeral home.
