Edwin “Dale” Casebolt passed away on October 31, 2018 at the Fowler Healthcare Center with his wife Nancy by his side. Dale and twin brother Gale were born on Sept. 25, 1929 to parents Raymond and Gladys Casebolt in the La Junta Hospital. Dale was raised in La Junta, attending local schools and graduating in the class of 1948. In April of 1951 he joined the United States Army. Serving in the Korean War, he later transferred to the Army Reserve and finally the Colorado Army National Guard. Dale retired from The Nation Guard in 1989 after achieving the rank of Command Sargent Major.
Dale married Nancy Lee Thompson on September 16, 1951 while on leave from the army. Upon returning from Korea, Dale went to work at Kipper’s Super Market as the meat market manager. He continued to work there through three owners, eventually retiring in March of 1993. Dale was a member of the La Junta United Methodist Church, The VFW, The Koshare Key Men and served several terms on the Koshare Indian Museum Board of Directors.
Dale is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ronald Dean “Butch” Casebolt. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Lee Casebolt; daughter, Rhonda (Norman) Mitts and son, D. Alan (Betsy) Casebolt. Three grandchildren, Jeff Mitts, Rileigh and Makenna Casebolt. His twin brother, Gale Casebolt; sisters, Kathleen Cox, Glenda Gross and Beverly Nalls; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at the La Junta United Methodist Church with Reverend Lou Ward officiating. Inurnment will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
