Eleanor Marie Schiro, 89, passed away unexpectedly on March 22, 2019 at her Sugar City home. She was born on May 17, 1929 in Sugar City to Henry & Marie (Herman) Rein.
Eleanor worked on the ranch and farm with her husband, Charles until retirement. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, reading and traveling. Eleanor enjoyed her life in Sugar City and her interaction with her friends at Senior Citizens. She was very interested in all aspects of Crowley County and was a supporter of many events, including Crowley County Days and all the Crowley County school events and programs. Eleanor was a very active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Sugar City until it closed. She then transferred her membership to La Junta Trinity Lutheran church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry & Marie Rein; husband, Charles Schiro; son, Tim Schiro; grandson, David Bowen; son-in-law, Ray Bowen; brother, Ronnie Rein. She is survived by her children, Cheryl Bowen and Tom (Jackie) Schiro; grandchildren, Heather Bowen, Phillip (Maggie) Pacino, Benny (Clarissa) Pacino, and Samantha Klein; great-grandchildren, Kylie Ray Bowen, Dylan Bowen; sister-in-law, Jeannie Rein Dawson; siblings, Alvin (Pat) Rein, Robert Rein, and Jan (Ralph) Rogers; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 1601 Raton Avenue, La Junta, CO with Pastor Rick Miller officiating. Interment will follow at the Lakeview Cemetery in Sugar City.
Those wishing to do so may make memorial contributions to the Trinity Lutheran Church direct or through the funeral home.
