Esther was born on October 29, 1928 to George and Molly Bender in Rocky Ford, Colorado. As a small child she and her siblings grew up on a small farm on the Old Trail north of La Junta. Esther and her five brothers and sisters were an integral part of life on a farm. Esther's experiences as a young child served to shape her attitude, perseverance and attention to detail. She graduated from Rocky Ford High School and Barnes Business College in Denver, CO. After graduating from Business College Esther returned to Rocky Ford where she met and married the love of her life, Wayne Lusk. Wayne and Esther were married on November 12, 1947. They had two children Kent and Becky.

Esther stayed home with Kent and Becky until they were in school before she went to work outside of the home. She worked for a short time as a teacher's aide at Swink Public Schools before being hired as the Executive Secretary for Southeast Colorado Power Association in La Junta, a position she held the rest of her working life.

Esther was an excellent cook who was well known for her beautiful and delicious pies and other German delicacies. She adored her four Grandchildren, Paul Wayne, Luke, Hollie and David. She loved attending their sporting and school events.

She is survived by one brother, Ed (Nelda) Bender, her children, Kent (Donna) Lusk and Becky (Paul) Casper, grandchildren, Paul Wayne (Susan) Casper, Lt. Col. Luke (Christy) Casper, David Lusk and Hollie (lan) Baca, and great-grandchildren, Dalton, Hayden, Riley, Cort, Ryan, Malia, Fletcher and Lilliana.
