Federico "Pops" Oviedo, Jr., 73, passed away on July 28, 2015 at his La Junta home. He was born on July 12, 1942 in San Antonio, Texas to Federico & Manuela (Guillen) Oviedo, Sr.
Pops worked for Packbell for 20 years in California and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He then served 23 years with the Army National Guard in California. During his time with the National Guard he was promoted to Supervisor and Staff Sergeant on the same week which made his family very proud of him. All his National Guard peers called him 'Top' and admired his comradery, gentle manner and his big heart.
He is survived by his wife, Sally of the La Junta home; daughter Stella; son-in-law, Carlos; granddaughters, Vanessa & Sabrina; daughter, Sandra and her two sons; four brothers and five sisters; 13 Godchildren; loving sister-in-laws, Lucha, Peanut & Gina; and his fun loving pets, Lucy & Karen.
Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
A graveside service will be Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at 12:30 p.m. at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside California with military honors by the California Army National Guard.
