Frankie R. Lovato

Frankie R. Lovato, 33, of Rocky Ford, passed away on May 3, 2022 in Colorado Springs as a result of a vehicle accident. Frankie was born Jan. 20, 1989, in La Junta, Colorado to Tracy Lovato. He attended and graduated from La Junta High School in 2007. Frankie was proud to be a Tiger. Frankie began his career with The Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway in 2011, he worked as an Engineer and Conductor.

Frankie was an avid sports enthusiast, a diehard Dallas Cowboy Fan. He enjoyed attending sporting events or watching them on tv. One of life’s most memorable experiences for Frankie and Diane was attending a Dallas Cowboy home game in the AT&T stadium in Arlington, TX. Frankie brought joy to his friends and family by the mere mention of a “Vegas Trip” or weekend gambling trip to Black Hawk. His famous saying was, “Scared money don’t make money!”.

Frankie could brighten up a room with a smile and calm a situation with a word. His mere presence made him a joy to be around. Frankie’s compassion, loyalty and accessibility to his family, friends, and work family earmarked his dependability and willingness to help all who knew him without reservation or explanation. He was a friend to all!

Frankie Lovato departed this life way too soon. He is survived by his loving family, wife Diane Mendez, mother Tracy Lovato (Tony Rodriquez), Father Phil (LeeAnn) Navarro, son Donavin (Rebeca) Baca, brother Stephen Romero and his loyal companion English Bulldog known as “Rocco”. He is also survived by Grandmother Flora Lovato, uncles, Charlie Lovato Jr., Rick (Megan) Lovato, aunts Tisha (Daniel) Medina, Charlene (Art) Hernandez, Veronica (Abel) Aguilar, niece Mila Romero, nephew Matthew Sigala.

Mother-in-law – Lola Mendez, Brothers in law, Thomas Mendez, Jonathon Miera, Sisters in Law, Stephine Mendez, and Jessica Sandoval.

He is preceded in death by grandfather, Charlie Lovato Sr., Father-in-Law, John Miera.

Frankie will be remembered for his kind and generous heart and his loyalty to his friends and family. His close knit friends that more like a band of brothers stood by each other’s side since grade school and through all of life’s happy and sad times. Frankie lived life to the fullest each and every day and is an example of how we should treat each other.

Frankie will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His numerous friends, family, and his BNSF family. Frankie will be carried in our hearts FOREVER!!

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Thursday, May 12, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Both services are at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish with Father Joseph Matitu officiating. Interment will follow the Mass at Calvary Cemetery in La Junta.
