Gale L. Mills

Gale Leonard Mills passed away at his home on November 8, 2017 at the age of 66.

Gale was born on September 6, 1951 in Grinnell, Iowa to Lawrence and Louise Mills. He was a true Iowa farm boy growing up near Baxter, IA. Gale valued education beginning at Baxter Community School and culminating with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Iowa State University. Mr. Mills touched the lives of thousands of students during his career as a math teacher at La Junta High School, Otero Junior College and Center Consolidated School District.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Louise Mills. He is survived by his wife, Diana; his son, Christopher (Miriam) Mills; grandchildren, CT and Katelynn Mills of Tularosa, NM; daughter, Allison Mills of Phoenix, AZ; son, Andrew Mills of Phoenix, AZ. He is also survived by his sisters, Susan (Steve) Cochran of Canon City, Charlotte (Chuck) Page of Mansfield, OH, and brother, Dale Mills of Iowa. Mr. Mills is also survived by his former spouse Sue Ellen Mills of La Junta.

Although Gale faced many health challenges throughout his life, he enjoyed singing, playing the guitar, laughing his way through many fishing trips with friends and family, participating in community theater productions and loved the Rocky Mountains. As a sponsor of the La Junta
High School Key Club he taught students how to be a part of the community through service projects.

Gale wished to be cremated and at his request no services will be held.
