Gary E. Macoubrie, 83, of Rocky Ford passed away on August 8, 2016 at the Crowley County Nursing Center in Ordway. He was born on February 10, 1933 in Carrolton, Missouri to Carl E. & Ona (Harper) Macoubrie.
He moved to Hygiene, Colorado with his parents and younger brother when he was four years old. He was active in 4-H where he received several ribbons for his calf. He graduated high school from Longmont and joined the Navy and became an airplane engine mechanic. He returned to Longmont and worked with his father in a commercial painting business which he took over for his dad and had it for over 30 years. He then went to school to learn small engine repair and became a Toro representative in Longmont.
He and his wife, Wilma moved to Saratoga, Wyoming to retire and fish and play pool all he wanted. He loved spending time there. They then moved to Rocky Ford, Colorado seven years ago and he spent 3 ½ years at the Crowley County Nursing Center and I would like to thank all for your hard work.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma of the Rocky Ford home; son, Kevin Macoubrie of Grand Junction, CO; daughter, Laurie Schumacher of Oro Valley, Arizona; step-daughter, Lynell Moris of Manzanola; step-son, Denny Moore of Denver; and several beautiful grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents.
