Gary E. Wallace

July 5, 1947 — June 26, 2024

Gary E. Wallace was the son of Harry D. Wallace and Olive E. Carlisle Wallace. Born in La Junta, Colorado on July 5th, 1947. He grew up on the family farm with his big sister, Harriet Wallace Menning. He was active, curious and fearless as a child and throughout most of his life.

Upon graduating high school, he and his wife, Linda Bullard, and their young son, Robert, moved to the San Antonio, Texas area. Gary worked as a flight instructor and he and Linda welcomed their second son, Michael.

Shortly after the dissolution of his first marriage, he returned to Colorado. He met and married Sharon McDonald Wallace. Together, they welcomed two girls into the world, Shawna and Rochelle.

The majority of his life, Gary worked in the family business, Wallace Inc. Farm and Feedlot. He worked hard and had a natural gift for farming, but his true love was flying. He bought a plane in his late 40s and would "buzz" his friends, neighbors, give carnival rides to OJC international student and take almost anyone up who asked to fly.

Everyone who knew him had a "Gary" story, a time that he did something on impulse that lead to triumph or disaster, but always with that cheeky grin.

There are no services planned at this time.

Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
