Gary Lee Daughtrey, 73, peacefully passed away April 13, 2023 at the Joni Fair Hospice House in Pueblo, CO. Gary was born in Abilene Texas on Feburary 25, 1950 to Orville Daughtrey and Betty Jean (Weaver) Lewis, but Gary chose his own father in Edwin Lewis who instilled the values that he eventually taught his own children.

He was raised in Texas and eventually met his wife of over 30 years Elizabeth Daughtrey in Provo Utah. Gary was a man who excelled with people no matter who, and he strove to be a man of integrity and strength. Gary worked all his life in a multitude of jobs to provide for himself and his family. After realizing they couldn't have any more children after their first, they decided to adopt 3 more children, because Gary knew that he and his wife had more love to give the world. Gary was a valuable member of every community he made himself a part of. Whether it was through his church, Rotary, or Sales, he was a pillar wherever he stood. However his 7 year battle with cancer had taken a toll on him and his family. As we watched the man who supported us all his life waste away he never let go of his gentle love for his family.

Gary is survived by his wife Elizabeth Daughtrey of the La Junta home; children, Aaron (Gigi Norwood) Daughtrey of Ft. Lyon, CO; Kristopher (Elizebeth Gunter) Daughtrey of La Junta; Jessica (Devan Tuska) Daughtrey of Olney Springs, CO; and Nellie (Joey) Valencia of La Junta; grandchildren, Tiffany Daughtrey, Asher Fields, Anya Daughtrey, Jason, Joshua & Oliver Hosea, Joseph, Arabella, Braven, Kingdom, & Gabriel Valencia; sister, Sharon (Mike) Cavitt; 2 nephews & 1 niece. Gary is preceded in death by his parents. Godspeed Dad. We Love you.

Funeral services for Gary will be held Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in La Junta with Kermit Snyder officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m the same day. Interment to follow the service at Fairview Cemetery in La Junta.
