George D. Madrid, 68, of La Junta passed away on October 8, 2020 at the Cheyenne Mountain Center in Colorado Springs. He was born on September 20, 1952 in La Junta to George & Nora (Rivera) Madrid. George was the baby brother of eight sisters.
George made a career with the La Junta Police Department for 23 years. He later retired to pursue other career opportunities, for instance owning his own handyman service, being a realtor and becoming a fulltime dad/grandpa.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved to go camping, fishing, rooting for the Denver Broncos, shooting his guns, panning for gold, and also enjoying becoming a collector of varies treasures he came across.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lucy of the La Junta home; daughters, Karen Madrid and Laura (Jon) Minck all of La Junta; sons, George (Lindsey) Madrid and Marc (Bernadette) Madrid all of La Junta; his wonderful grandchildren, Corey, Danyon, Medillo, Ethan, Jacob, Liyah, Derick, Janessa, Aniyah, Hayle, Diamond Alexis and George Luciano.
Memorial service will be Wednesday, October 14, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel. Inurnment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery.
