Helmut Walfred Kienitz

Helmut Walfred Kienitz, 78, passed away on November 18, 2015
at his La Junta home. He was born on August 19, 1937 in Oseln, Latvia to Fred
& Hulda (Radke) Kienitz.
 
His family arrived in Ordway in 1953 and owned a farm by
1956. He graduated from Ordway High School with the class of 1957 and received his
BA in 1963 from Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, TN.
 
He worked for Rydell printing in Denver, CO. He was Pastor
for two churches, in Creighton, NE during 1965 -1966 and in Snyder, CO from
1967 thru 1969. He was on the Fire Dept. Crew in Elsinore, CA in 1969, was a
driver for the Flower Grading Company, he worked for Singer Company in Pueblo,
CO from 1969 thru 1971, the Crystal Sugar Factory in Rocky Ford, Pryor Clothing
Company in La Junta from 1971 thru 1973, he was also the business owner and manager
of Sewing & Vacuum Sales & Repairs from 1973 until 2009 Rocky Ford and
La Junta.  
 
He had dignity for all the jobs he held from janitor’s
assistant to being a business owner. He earned many friends over the years from
his business – our appreciation to Rocky Ford and La Junta communities for
years of patronage and friendships. He served people from Dodge City, KS to New
Mexico and many Eastern Colorado plains communities. He considered all his
customers friends. He was always ready to listen, mentor, and disciple any and
all. He was a member of the La Junta Baptist Tabernacle.
 
Helmut is survived by his wife, Esther (Shaffstall) Kienitz;
children, S. Kristine (Paul) Arellano, Richard (Kari Hashberger) Kienitz,
Cynthia (Jeff) Butler, Timothy (Cindy Sudik) Kienitz, Terry (Mary Lynn Groves)
Kienitz, Joy (Tim Muth) Kienitz, Ruth (Dave Long) Kienitz, Grace (Peter) Terra,
Melody (Justin) Ratzlaff, Danny (Cherokee) Hope; sisters, Gerda Hagenau and
Rosemarie (Don) Reynolds; brothers, Leonard Kienitz and Harry (Ingrid) Kienitz;
32 grandchildren; numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his
parents.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 28,
2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene in La Junta.
