Herman Sandoval, 83, of La Junta passed away Friday, April 21, 2023 at his La Junta home. He was born Sunday, April 30, 1939 in Las Vegas, NM to Maxiliano & Confirina (Sanchez) Sandoval.
Herman enjoyed spending time with his family, enjoyed taking camping trips in his motorhome and loved watching the Raiders play. Herman worked for the La Junta Public Schools and did general maintenance. He prepared and lined Tiger Field for many of the football games for 25 years with his wife by his side. He had a loving personality and loved to joke. Herman always had to make sure everyone was happy and fed. Any friend of ours, was a friend of his. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
Herman is survived by his children, Herman Sandoval, Jr.; Connie (Junior Raymond) Blea; Veronica (Alfred) Sanchez; and Elaine (Agustin) Lopez, all of La Junta; grandchildren, Kevin Sandoval; Danny Louis Espinoza; Alfred Sanchez, Jr.; Eric Sanchez; Dominic Sanchez; Vincent Sanchez; Charlene Sanchez; Curtis Lopez; Merina Lopez; Allyiah Lopez; Dominic Lopez; numerous great-grandchildren, including his newest great-grandson, Azreal Lopez; his siblings, Mary (George) Sanchez; and Della (Victor) Esquibel; numerous nieces & nephews also survive. Herman is preceded in death by his wife, Rufina Sandoval; parents; children, Mikey Lopez; Albert Lopez; Debra Sandoval; Michael Lopez; and Raymond Baca, Jr.; siblings, Fernandez Sandoval; Gilbert Sandoval; and Eloisa Esquivel.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held Thursday, April 27, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Memorial Mass at 10:00 a.m. Both services at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish in La Junta with Father Joseph Matitu officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery in La Junta.
