Irene Snyder Bishop Kuhl, 93, passed away on November 30, 2014, in Denver, Colorado. She was born October 11, 1921 in La Junta, Colorado to Mark G. and Annie Heatwole Snyder. She graduated from La Junta High School in 1939, earned her AA degree from Goshen College in 1941, her BA degree from Denver University in 1960, MA degree in 1965, and ED.D. in 1977. She taught first grade in the Denver Public Schools from 1960 until her retirement in 1986. She was a producer of Senior Showcase for RMPBS in the late-1980's, after retirement. She had many interests including Writer's Group, Alliance Francaise, gardening, art, music, genealogy and traveling.
Irene is survived by her five children, Sharon McGaughey, Carol Edwards, Douglas Bishop and partner Lisa Mott, Roger (Dominique) Bishop, and Loanne Hamrin, and by three step-children, Fred (Kathy) Kuhl, Mary (Stanley) Koleski, and Margaret (Walter) Cranor. She is also survived by sisters Verna Shaub, Mary Hunsinger, Winnie Sweigart and brother James D. (Beverly) Snyder. In addition, she is survived by 12 grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 2 step-great-grandchildren, and by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Irene is preceded in death by her father and mother and by her husband, Charles A. Kuhl.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 12, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at First Mennonite Church, 430 West 9th Street, Denver, CO, 80204.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Mennonite Church, 502 Harriett Avenue, La Junta, CO, 80150, followed by graveside services at Fairview Cemetery in La Junta.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to First Mennonite Church, Denver or Emmanuel Mennonite Church, La Junta.
Funeral service will be Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Mennonite Church with Rev. Jeremy Yoder officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery,
