James “Jim” Gary Long, 77, of La Junta, Colorado, passed away on February 1, 2025, at Parkview Medical Center. He was born on July 9, 1947, in La Junta, Colorado to Clarence G. and Marie (Morris) Long.

Jim is survived by his life partner, Janet McGaughey of La Junta, CO; children, Bradley (Tessie Adams) Long of Goodland, KS and Nichole (Brett) Travis of Lamar, Colorado; grandchildren, Kristel (Dustin) Monroe of Bethune, CO; Trella Long of Burlington, CO; Mikel (Kelsey) Long of Burlington, CO; Brittany (Ted) Keyser of Arizona; Reid McGaughey of California and Danzig McGaughey of California; great grandchildren, Wynston Long of Burlington, CO and Bryson Keyser of Arizona; siblings, Merlene (Jim) Klinkerman of La Salle, CO; Lola (Bub Bland) Baublits of Las Animas, CO and Lenda (Frank) Sumpter of Kim, CO and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Glendon and Marie (Morris) Long; son, Gary Long and brothers, Donald “Gene” and Glendon Long.
Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Cheraw Community Church with Pastor Larry Chapman of Cheraw Community Church officiating.
